On the previous class, my group had do a presentation about
web based occupational safety and health. Occupational safety and health is
about developing procedures and also policies that can help employees and
employers by preventing them from being injured or become ill due to the
hazards occur in their workplaces. It is important to have OSH in the
organization in order to reduce the incident happens.
In order to ensure effective action, it is essential to
establish occupational safety and health (OSH) management systems at all
workplaces for continual improvement of working environment and preventive
measures.
Many of the organization promote the occupational safety and
health in the workplace. The example of
government bodies that are responsible to this HR function are the National
Occupational Health and Safety Commission, the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, Health and Safety Commission and the Occupational Safety and
Health Council.
Besides, In Malaysia,
the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) under the Ministry of
Human Resource is responsible to ensure that the safety, health and welfare of
workers in both the public and private sector is upheld. DOSH is responsible to
enforce the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 and the Occupational Safety and
Health Act 1994. There are responsible to protect co-workers, family members,
employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace
environment.
Moreover, this web based system also helps the organizations
to avoid employee injuries in the workplace and ensure that employees comply
with OSHA standards through OSHA Compliance Assistance in their web based
system that contains both online and written resources. These include e-Tools,
factsheets on specific health and safety topics, employee training resources
and guidelines for complying with specific regulations. The e-Tools are
stand-alone, interactive, web-based training tools on occupational safety and
health topics.
